At the request of the Southampton Rose Society, the Board of Trustees recently declared the Rose to be the official flower of Southampton.The Southampton Rose Society has helped to beautify the Village business district, planting gardens at Rogers Memorial Library and Southampton Cultural Center and installing rose walls on Windmill Lane and Hampton Road. They maintain these beautiful gardens on behalf of the Village.
The Rose was named the New York State Flower in 1955 and was designated as the official flower and floral emblem of the United States in 1986.
